Fee Structure
We are committed to ensuring that clients receive clear and comprehensive information regarding the costs associated with their legal representation. Our approach to fees is designed to provide transparency, predictability, and flexibility, enabling clients to manage their legal expenses with confidence.
Preliminary Consultation
A complimentary preliminary consultation is offered to assess the merits and suitability of your case. This consultation allows for an initial exchange of information and assists in determining the most appropriate course of action.
Terms of Engagement and Deposits
Formal engagement is contingent upon receipt of a deposit, which serves to secure court dates and allocate the necessary resources to your matter. Full payment is required in advance of any substantive drafting, advisory, or preparatory work. Deposits are subject to terms, including non-refundable provisions in the event of late cancellations.
Fee Arrangements
We offer flexible fee arrangements to reflect the complexity and scope of each case. Our services may be provided on a fixed fee or hourly rate basis, determined by the nature of the work and client preference.
- Fixed Fees: Suitable for discrete tasks such as document drafting, advisory opinions, or representation at hearings. Fixed fees provide certainty and clarity by encompassing all agreed-upon work within a specified scope.
- Hourly Rates: Appropriate for matters requiring sustained engagement or cases where the scope of work may evolve. Time is recorded in standard increments, ensuring that clients are billed accurately and fairly for the work undertaken.
Review and Submission of Documents
A minimum charge applies for the review of documents. Clients are advised to submit papers in PDF or Word format to avoid administrative charges associated with document conversion. Consolidation of multiple documents into a single file is encouraged to facilitate efficient processing.
Billing and Payment Terms
Invoices are issued at regular intervals, with payment terms clearly stipulated to ensure timely settlement. For court appearances, full payment is required prior to the scheduled hearing date. Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in the adjournment of representation.
Disbursements and Additional Costs
Disbursements such as travel, accommodation, and third-party fees (e.g. expert reports or court filing fees) are payable by the client. Where applicable, such expenses will be disclosed in advance and itemised within invoices.
Legal Aid
Please note that our chambers do not undertake work under legal aid. Clients are encouraged to explore alternative funding arrangements or verify whether their legal expenses may be covered by insurance.
Client Care and Communication
A formal client care letter will be provided upon engagement, detailing the agreed fee structure and terms of service. This document constitutes the basis of the contractual relationship between chambers and the client.
